‘Take one look at Anne’s students who now conduct and organise their own recitals and you will understand why she is one of the country’s sought-after music teachers. Her school, Musikschule specialises in music programmes for children aged one to 15, where music is not just restricted to the enjoyment of melodies, but is about learning important life skills such as respect, discipline, team-work and community service.

Teaching children has always brought joy to Anne, as she is inspired by working and interacting with them. This passion led her to organise Rhythm of the Soul Charity Concert in aid of the Orang Asli community in Bentong last year. It received tremendous response with RM 100,000 donated to the community.

She believes in building lives through music, so for her learning to play and appreciate music is not enough. Her vision is to see Malaysian women rise out of mediocrity and seek continuous growth in whatever they do. “We must strive to do our best - by doing worthy things for ourselves and for the world that we live in.”

Anne Musikschule Performing Arts Centre (AMPAC) is a music school with a difference. Aimed at ‘Building Lives Through Music’, AMPAC not only provides the environment and facilities for various music classes, but it is a center with a passion to see their students grow not only in their talents, but as individuals of character.

In an interview with Ms. Anne Lim, Principal:
I was introduced to the Orang Asli children by a parent who visits them regularly in the Bentong OA settlement. When I saw their living conditions and how underprivileged they are compared to ‘our’ (town) kids, something in me said, “What can we do for them? (The OA children)

I have always felt that the students of AMPAC have the talents and abilities to do something for the community. There is so much that we have been blessed with, those of us that live in the city, so surely there must be something we can give in return to those not as privileged as we are.

As I interacted with the OA children, I asked them about their dreams, what they would like to do with their lives and one child asked me in return, “What is out there?”
Imagine the possibilities with me for a minute. If we are able to show these children, what a Zoo is like, the tall beautiful buildings in our city centre, Museums, the list goes on - we could give these children a better chance at life.

Together with my team of dedicated staff and teachers, we decided that something could be done. With the talents of our wonderful students, we would organize a charity concert in aid of the Orang Asli Children.

And so, in November 2008, AMPAC reached out to the wider society by organizing a Charity Concert ‘Rhythm of the Soul’ – in aid of the Orang Asli Children. The two day’s concert held on 14 & 16 November 2008 at the Dewan Sivik, MBPJ was a success and the funds raised were used to purchase a brand new Nissan 15-seater URVAN for the children (given to the care of an NGO, the Semenanjung Malaysia Orang Asli, SEMOA).

24 June 2009 – AMPAC was proud to handover a brand new Nissan URVAN after completing all the necessary paper work and requisitions to procure the van. Ms. Anne Lim together with their Music Director, Mr. Brian Tan and Music & Movement teacher, Ms. Savy Ho drove to Bentong to officially handover the van to the Orang Asli children.

Much of this would not be possible without the generosity of the sponsors for the concert as well as those who contributed in one way or another towards the plight of the OA children. AMPAC is glad to be able ‘give back’ to society at the same time encouraging all their students and even the Orang Asli that they too can achieve their dreams.

Rhythm of the Soul Charity Concert - November 2008

A big THANK YOU to all who have contributed in one way or another to this wonderful cause - the Orang Asli children.
